Joe Root - Playing Spin
Recently we have done a few posts on playing spin and Joe Root's two innings have been a masterclass in how to bat against spin in the subcontinent.
One of the overriding messages about playing spin from these previous posts has been making a clear decision on what shot to play and either getting forward to the ball or right back in your crease, allowing you to play the ball closer.
Have a look at this analysis below from Joe Root's 1st innings score of 186 from 309 balls. During this entire innings he only played 5 BALLS from within the "danger zone" against spin, not getting either right forward or right back in his crease.
Absolutely incredible from the England captain!
